Carefully Chosen Ingredients
Great products don't take shortcuts. So, we'd like to share the thought process behind each ingredient in our hydration formulation.
Let's start with what is NOT in our product. REPOWR contains no colouring, fillers, bulking agents or artificial sweeteners. It has only what's necessary. We shun things like colouring, designed, really, to trick your senses.
All our ingredients are chosen for function, quality and purity. Most importantly, our sodium comes from Oryx Desert Salt, one of the cleanest sources in the world. Through a special partnership, we are able to highlight their logo on our packaging. The salt is sun-dried, unprocessed and unpolluted. It comes from an ancient salt pan in the Kalahari Desert that contains no micro-plastics.
Our other main electrolyte ingredients are potassium chloride and magnesium malate. Magnesium comes in many forms (glycinate, threonate, citrate etc). Our magnesium malate is highly bio-available. This type of magnesium helps with ATP (energy) creation and is well-tolerated, in other words unlikely to cause GI distress.
Electrolyte salts on their own are not very pleasant to drink. We add sodium citrate and calcium carbonate to soften the tartness, reduce the acidity and to help our powder dissolve. We use high-quality natural, spray-dried flavours which give REPOWR its great taste. The aroma is distinctly noticeable when opening the sachet.
Electrolytes need some sweetness. Taste our RAW version and you'll understand why. But, as a health product, we can't use sugar, fructose or glucose. There are only a handful of sweeteners that meet our criteria - stevia, monk fruit and allulose, to be exact.
Stevia is our choice because it's natural (it's not an artificial sweetener), doesn't have calories and isn't glycemic, meaning it is neutral to both blood sugar and insulin. It also pairs well with our electrolyte minerals. Because stevia is very sweet, we don't need to use a lot. Stevia is easy on the gut and well-tolerated by almost everyone, though there are a few people who have ragweed allergies and can't use it.
The final ingredient is citric acid, needed to preserve freshness, buffer acidity and enhance taste. Citric acid is a naturally occurring substance found in citrus fruit. However, the citric acid used in food products and supplements like ours is made via a fermentation process (using a fungus called Aspergillus Niger), similar to how bread is made with yeast. It is a natural process. The final product is purified and ground into powder. The fungus is used only for the conversion process and is not present in the final ingredient. This citric acid is the same chemical compound as found in lemons.
By sharing the thought process behind the formulation, we hope to provide transparency, facilitate understanding and help customers develop confidence in our brand.
